EViDAnCE – Exploring Value in Digital Archives and the Comainn Eachdraidh
EViDaNCE is an AHRC funded project as part of the Cultural Value project. This project seeks to comprehend the ways in which the work of comainn eachdraidh (historical societies), based within the Outer Hebrides, produce ‘Cultural Value’ for the communities in which they are embedded. Further to this, project aims to divulge the ways in which moves towards digitisation and the presentation of archival material in digital form potentially extend this value not only to the local community but to a much wider audience, reaching well beyond the existing archive sites.

Danilo Giglitto – PhD Project:
My research looks at the possibility of using wiki software to build a digital archive that would be more effective in addressing issues about how voices from below can contribute to locally based digital archives and, moreover, facilitate better interaction with online archives. Furthermore, I will try to argue how for the purposes of digital cultural heritage archives the wiki approach offers a number of real advantages for communities. These hypothesis will be tested on a wiki website, created by a team from Edinburgh Napier University and run by me together Museums Galleries Scotland, about intangible cultural heritage in Scotland.
